Prerequisite to Set up Amazon Firestick

Before proceeding further to set up the Firestick on your TV, make sure you have the following things,
- A Compatible TV: You should have a compatible High-definition(HD) or ultra-high-definition TV with an HDMI port to connect your Firestick.
- Internet Connection: A high-speed internet connection with WiFi.
- An Active Amazon Account: An Amazon account to set up Firestick on TV. If you don’t have one, create one beforehand.
How to Connect Amazon Firestick to TV
Here are the steps to connect Amazon Firestick to your TV,
1. Connect one end of the micro USB cable to the Firestick and the other end to the power adapter.
2. Plug the adaptor into the electrical source and connect the Firestick to the HDMI port of the TV. You can also use an HDMI extender for this purpose. Also, note the HDMI port number to which your device is connected.
Note: Alternatively, if your TV has a 5-volt USB port, you can power your Firestick via the TV’s USB port itself instead of using a power adapter. Do not plug your Firestick into the HDMI port labeled as ARC or eARC. If you have a 4K TV, plug the Firestick into the HDMI HDCP 2.0 port if available.
3. Now, turn on your TV and change the input source to the HDMI port to which the Firestick is connected. For instance, if you have connected Firestick to HDMI port 2, press the Input/Source button on the TV’s remote until you navigate to the respective port number.

Now, you must sign in to the Amazon account to start using Firestick on TV. For that,
1. Choose I already have an Amazon account if you are an existing user or I am new to Amazon if you do not have an account.
2. Enter the login details of your Amazon account and proceed. You can also click on Sign In Online or Sign in with a QR Code.
3. You will see a welcome message with your account name. Click on Continue to proceed with this Amazon account on your Fire TV Stick. Click Change Account to switch to a different user account.
Tweak Other Settings on Firestick
After the sign-in, you must answer a few prompts to set up Firestick on your TV.
1. Click Yes/ No to save the Wi-Fi password to the Amazon cloud. When clicked Yes, any Firestick device with the same Amazon account will be automatically connected to this Wi-Fi network. So you will not be required to enter the password manually next time.
2. Next, Choose Enable Parental Controls or No Parental Controls. For the former, you need to set a PIN code.
3. Furthermore, you can enable the Data Monitoring feature if you want, else, click on Set up Later.
